I'm going to college! (A.K.A. "University" for you brits)

Posted by Glaiel-Gamer - November 18th, 2007

So last Wednesday I found out that I got accepted into Digipen Institute of Technology, and I can say that that's where I'm going to college next year.

For those of you that haven't heard of it, Digipen is THE college to go to for someone looking to be a professional game developer. It's been around the longest, has the best reputation, and has the best course selection, along with being in a prime location right next to Nintendo of America and Microsoft.

So for the next 4 years (2008-2012), I will be doing nothing but math, physics, and game development in school (and a few mixed courses in other subjects). I'm pretty excited about it all. Not only will I learn how to make much better quality games and 3D games and work with consoles and handhelds, but the principals of physics for 2D games and techniques can be applied to flash too.

Anyway, If any other experienced flash artists or programmers out there applied and got accepted, or are thinking of applying, let me know. I'll need a roommate :D.

I've said it before but congratulations! I know the day i figured out where I was going to school was a massive relief and weight off of my shoulders.

Plus, you don't have to fill out any more applications! Hooray. I'm assuming you did early action or early decision with this school, yeah? I didn't find out where I was going until February sometime :(

rolling admissions, they tell you within 2-4 weeks of your application. I can still decline it if i choose but I won't.

Awesome, congrats on your acceptance! I'll keep that college in mind now. :)

Why congrats on you sir!

Sounds awesome, really.

Now you can go to college with Rtil and my friend Nate :P

I'm trying to go to college for Art shit, but I might drop Digipen a try, though I most likely won't get in :C

Congrats anyways!

It must have looked good on your resamay that your a well known flash game artist.

Congrats.

Congrats! What kind of stuff were you able to put on your application?

Heh, I wrote the optional 4th essay about my website, I listed every single newgrounds award separately on my resume, I wrote about boy scouts and I wrote about a lot of other things.

What's your GPA have to be

dont come back, k

Good luck in college!!!

Grats! You certainly have the talent and the skills to make a good game, as can be seen by the high quality of many of the games you've submitted to NG (specailly Krazy Kar, Magnetism and, above all, Agua Slug!), but prepare yourself for college-level maths... You're going to have to study. Alot. X_X . But it'll be worthwhile eventually, when you're helping Shigeru Miyamoto to create the next Zelda/Mario/Metroid.
Cheers!

I'm perfectly fine with math, I got a 99 average in AP calculus (took it a year early even) and a perfect score on the calculus AP exam.

I'm excited for the neat advanced math classes digipen offers, I'm shooting for a minor in math and a minor in physics, even though getting both is a stretch I can do it.

I wish I could've said something before, most things were said already. But there is never enough CONGRATULATIONS! Digipen......I didn't know it for long....being 14, I haven't looked into colleges too much. I guess you're moving to Redmond, AWESOME! I heard gray skies are common, but then again....these Northeastern states are not too different. Good luck with your college experience.

A minor in maths? Bah... as a man with a bachelors degre in physics, it's my duty to advise you not to go down the safe, tempting but ultimatly sterile and worthless path of mathmatics and opt instead for the high-risk, dangerous yet awsome-beyond-belief and courageous road that is physics!

=]

In all seriousness, 'grats again for making it to Digipen. Even here in Brazil, everyone know's that it really is the top college for game development in the world (well, except maybe some obscure japanese college I've never heard of) and I can think of no better way of making it to the professional gaming industry.

Cheers!

I'm getting a minor in math AND physics.

Math is important for programming, even moreso than physics.

And to think...I knew you way back when!
